The original set (76060) LEGO released is a nice little build. Just a little bit too small and too confused. An interesting mixture of Dr. Strange’s room in Kamar-Taj, the Sanctum Sanctorum and the portal beast, which doesn’t seem to fit at all. Nevertheless, I liked the set enough to have one built like LEGO intended it sitting on a shelf. But we also bought 3 additional sets (mostly without minifigures) to build a MOC of the Sanctum mostly inspired by the movie, artwork of the movie and a comic picture.
When I build a MOC after something „real“ I often print out a few pictures as inspiration, so this was the beginning:
And this is what I came up with:
It took me some time to come up with an idea for the window. I didn’t like the fact that there was no „glass“ to cover it. The original window is covered in a beautiful pattern and I wanted something like that. This are white turntables that are held together with transparent flat 1×2 bricks. Then I secured it to the wall in the back and incorporated it into the wall.
I immensely enjoyed building the magical artefacts. There are lots of displays with stuff.
The floor in the movie often changes or rises and falls, I tried to hint at that in the corner with the bookcases.
The staircase in the middle or at least the handrail of it.
The two big dressers and the flat stairs in front of the window.
Sieht ja wirklich cool aus 🙂
